Love Cumbria and Lancashire
You can live and work near views like this!
With over 3,500 square miles, there is something for everyone in Cumbria and Lancashire. From busy shopping centres in Preston, Lancaster, Kendal and Barrow, to romantic and historic towns of Kendal, Windermere and Garstang.
Want to live in the countryside? We couldn’t do the Lake District National Park justice here, take a look at the official tourist website for the lakes: Go Lakes. Or just on the edge of Lancaster is the Trough of Bowland, spectacular rolling countryside.
Lancaster, Barrow and Preston offer a different experience – all linked by train and major road networks, two of the cities also boast some of the largest Universities in the country, in turn offering vibrant night life, shopping and cultural experiences.
The region benefits from major transport links such as the M6, North West Coast Main Line and the airports of Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool.
Building on Improving Working Lives (IWL)
Since first achieving IWL and then Practice Plus status in spring 2006, the Trust has continued working in partnership with staff to embed and further develop the principles of good people management improving both patient care and the working lives of our staff.
Recognising the on going challenge of achieving a healthy work life balance we have continued to review, develop and implement a range of tools, advice and materials to help us all achieve the right balance.
Our People Management Strategy outlines our commitment to staff building on the central themes of IWL. We continue to support staff through every stage of their working life by providing opportunities for flexible working; learning and development; health and well being; recognition and reward; involvement and communication in addition to support with family and personal issues and retirement planning.
