There is a wide choice of Further Education opportunities in the counties for A-level and vocational training courses.

Higher Education

Lancashire and Cumbria both boast Universities, with Lancaster University featuring in the top 20 of the league table of Universities for 2010.

Recreation and leisure

Too much to do to list here!  Here is a list to some of the great recreational facilities that the region has to offer:


Skiing – only an hour away to a ski centre at the famous Trafford Centre

Football – lots of choice with representation in most of the leagues from NW clubs, through to Premiership stars.  National Footaball Museum in Preston.

Rugby – list of the English Rugby Clubs.

Lancashire and Cumbria is the ideal playground for families and those who like to enjoy the outdoors.

Naturally all the main chains have sites in Cumbria and Lancashire – if it is fine dining you’re after then we’re spoilt for choice, with Michelin Starred rating restaurants in both counties.
