A ‘Common Health Day’ is due to take place at Kendal Leisure Centre on Sunday 6 November 2022 between 10am and 4pm.
The health and wellbeing event first took place in November 2018 as ‘Sunday Fun Day’ but over the past few years was postponed due to the Covid pandemic. It has been renamed this year as ‘Common Health Day’ to tie in with the Commonwealth Games which took place earlier this year.
The free event is aimed at children of a primary school age and their families but everyone is welcome to attend.
There will be a range of fun health and wellbeing activities including games, sports, information stands, demonstrations from local clubs and health and wellbeing checks.
The event is a Kendal Integrated Care Community (ICC) and Kendal Leisure Centre initiative supported by a range of partners.
Cara Stride, Development Lead for Kendal ICC, said: "We are so pleased to have the health and wellbeing day back at Kendal Leisure Centre this year. We're looking forward to all the fun activities to get stuck into. There will be games to play, new hobbies to try and skills to learn. A free day of fun for all the family."
Caroline Smith, Communities Manager for Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) South Lakes & Copeland, said: “Kendal Leisure Centre are proud to work alongside the ICC and NHS to bring a range of activities and services to the community, including the Common Health Day.”
This year’s event is supported by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, North West Ambulance Service, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, Kendal Youth Zone, Lakeland Youth Council, Brathay, Headway South Cumbria, Active Cumbria, GLL Better Leisure, North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust, Kendal Rugby Club, The Kendalians, Wheels for All and Razzamataz Theatre Schools South Lakes.
This year’s Common Health Day will be held at Kendal Leisure Centre, Burton Road, Kendal, LA9 7HX.
