The Urgent Response Fund: supporting your local community during the coronavirus outbreak

29 April 2020

Every day across the nation, our local communities are being supported by small charities and organisations working tirelessly. It is hard to put into words our gratitude for all those incredible individuals who are caring for people affected by coronavirus at home and in the community. Charities across Lancaster and Morecambe are doing wonderful work.

The fund is designed to quickly provide financial support to community organisations across the Lancaster district who are working to mitigate the impact of the outbreak. This has been made possible by a partnership between the CVS, Lancaster City Council, and NHS Morecambe Bay Clinical Commissioning Group.

We are asking for your help to raise much needed funds so that these amazing charities can continue to deliver the best possible care to communities right across this district. All funds raised will cover above and beyond what charities alone can provide, such as mental health support, volunteer expenses, personal safety equipment and much more.

Grants are already being made, with one of the first going to 'Eggcup’, a charity that provides meals to vulnerable people.

Yak Patel, Chief Executive of Lancaster CVS said, “These charities are embedded in our communities and will be around long after COVID-19 has gone, helping people to rebuild their lives. As a local charity ourselves that exists to support charities, we ask you to visit our giving page and donate to help these amazing charities. Every penny donated will make a really big difference – thank you."

Donate to the Urgent Response Fund

Here at UHMBT we have felt truly humbled by the generosity of so many individuals and businesses who have already donated their time, money and goods to our NHS hospitals during this crisis. All the funds raised really will make a tremendous difference and our thanks go out to each and every person who has donated.
