Who can use the Library?
All NHS staff employed by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and all students on placement.
How do I join the Library?
You can come into the library in person and fill out a registration form or you can join online. Complete the online library registration form here.
Where is the Library?
The library at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is located in the Education Centre on Ashton Road. The library at Furness General Hospital is located in the Education Centre on level 3.
When is the Library open?
The library is open 24 hours a day. Library staff are usually available Monday - Friday. Contact the library for more information.

What do I need to access the computers in the library?
To use the computers at any of our sites you just need your Trust username and password.
How many items can I borrow?
Students can borrow up to 15 items. All other NHS staff can borrow up to 10 items. All books are loaned for 4 weeks.
What material does the Library hold?
The library covers a range of topics, including:

There are also a number of journals available online.
How do I search for books and eBooks?
Go to the library services website and then select ‘Search the Library Catalogue.’
How do I renew my library books online?
Email the library or contact the library for your Reader Code and Pin, and then visit the library catologue.
How many times can I renew my books?
Books can be renewed for a maximum of 3 times.
A book I need is not on the catalogue. How do I request a book?
If there is a specific book you require we can request to borrow the book from another library service. You can email the library or request a book online.
How do I register for an OpenAthens account?
Complete this registration form.
How do I access the online resources and journals?
You can access using the Knowledge and Library Hub or go to the e-resources page.
How do I request an article?
If you require a specific article you can email the library with details of the article or complete this ‘article request form.’
How do I request a Literature Search?
You can either email the library, or complete this request form. Trained library staff will undertake the literature search and the results will be emailed to you.
How do I access the bulletins?
There are a number of bulletins produced by the library service. You can sign up to recieve any bulletins using this online form.
How do I access the Morecambe Bay Medical Journal?
The Morecambe Bay Medical Journal can be found online or hard copies are usually available at the library.
What educational board games are available to borrow?
You can find the educational board games that are available to borrow on the library cataolgue.
How do I pay for printing in the library?
You can choose to pay for your printing at the library desk during staffed hours. Alternatively, you will receive an invoice at the begining of the following month for your printing.
