Silverdale Golf Club has raised an outstanding £7,000 for Bay Hospitals Charity to support the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Infirmary (RLI), following a year-long programme of heartfelt and imaginative fundraising driven by the club’s former Captain and Lady Captain.

A Pleural Assessment Room (PAR) opened at Furness General Hospital (FGH) on 24 April 2026, expanding the Trust’s Pleural Service at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The new PAR at FGH will make it easier for local people with pleural conditions to access care.

As you may be aware, we made the decision on Sunday 12 April 2026 to escalate to Operational Pressures Escalation Level (OPEL) 4 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). This was driven by significant and increasing demand for our services.
While our hospitals remain pressured and there are still challenges, we have de-escalated back to OPEL Level 3 from 4pm today (Thursday 16 April 2026). -
